The Stash-box Elite is without a shadow of a doubt the
most prestigious way of keeping your quality buds, with three seperate
trays, air vents, a pressure gauge, brass hinges, locking doors and a
beautifully hand crafted, polished walnut finish. There is nothing like it
and no comparisons. We have selected a handful of photos for you to
peruse over at your leisure, simply click the small images below for a

By keeping bud in just any old wooden box in most
western countries with their dry climates, you would end up with crumble
weed in a few months.
The Elite stash box each box comes with a
hygrometer built in to the top of the box to monitor the % of RH in the
box while you cure or store your buds.
and also with a humidifier
(a small, vented, plastic container wit6h a block of floral foam that you
can add water to increase the RH in the stashbox)
...as well as the
rear of the box has large vents that can be adjusted to help keep the
interior of the box at the ideal RH level you want, for the buds that are
being cured or stored in it.
Hygrometers take the guess work out of
curing and storage, Most hygrometers need to be calibrated and adjusted
once they are shipped from the manufacturer ... remove the hygrometer by
firstly removing the top drawer and push up gently with a bit of thumb
pressure from below, whilst you hold your other hand on top to remove it
from the box .... now put it next to another RH meter that you know is
correct for a while and compare, if it is "out" you can use a small
screwdriver and make a small 1/8th or 1/4th turn to adjust the dial ...
now it's set.
If you don't have another hygrometer to calibrate it
by ... you can calibrate using this simple method. Put the hygrometer and
bottle top filled with dampened salt - all sealed up inside a Ziplok bag
or a sealable container for about six hours - the salt must be (very)
slightly, dampened with a drop or two of water - it should feel like hard
damp sand, not a slurry of quick sand, after 6 hours the relqtive humidity
inside the baqg will be 75%,...adjust the hygrometer and gently force fit
it back in the Elite Stash box - be careful not to get any salt on the
hygrometer.
Most cigar web sites have detailed instructions, with
pics on how to do this yourself, and there are several different methods
ava;ilable. One involves wrapping the hygrometer in a wet towel for 30
minutes. ? It is also a good idea to thoroughly clean your stash box
with a damp cloth to make sure there is no dust in there before you stock
it up with buds - you can see they have been cleaned -prior to packing,
but there is always a bit of dust somewhere.
Clean the box inside
and out with a clean, soft, damp cloth as soon as you receive it. Vacuum
the interior first to remove any saw dust etc., then carefully wipe the
exterior with the cloth, finishin with a light buff with a soft dry cloth,
but be careful, high gloss lacquer finishes can scratch, so make sure the
rag or cloth contains no grit - actually the biggest problems are finger
prints, especially with the high gloss "black" lacquer Stash boxes ,
regular sprays of a furniture polish spray (Mister Sheen etc.) will keep
it looking like new.
The lid opens about 95 degrees, that is just
past vertical, so do not force the lid open past vertical, or try to lift
up the box by the lid or other rough handling, as this may damage the
box.
For boxes with inner screen covers - it is important to make
sure the cover for the wooden frame, as well as the herb grinder, is
sitting evenly, squarely and flat on the wooden frame before closing the
bx, or you may damage the lid/hinges or screws because of the design, when
the box lid is shut verything inside the box is rock solid and
rattle-less. |The box's lid holds down the inner cover - that holds firmly
in place the wooden frame that holds down the glass catching plate so it
doesn't rattle when carried or when doing a little gentle side to side kif
sifting with the box - make sure there are no pieces of bud or ribbon pull
tags stuck in between the different layers, as this will prevent proper
closing of the lid - just something to watch out for - actually it is all
pretty much ust common sense - this applies to the new coat pocket size
Stash box of Gypsy's too.
For future models I think a small light
fitted to the lid would bre a good thing to have on future "top of the
range" model Stash boxes. It is good to have good light on your herb when
preparing it. I like to remove every single tiny piece of stick, as it
make a smoother taste and high with some strains.
These boxes
are 13 - 15 inches wide. If you have a good hands on look over what's on
the internet, you would plainly see that you really get what you pay for,
especially with wooden products online - those cheapy box sellers never
seem to mention what the box is constructed of, because it is fibre wood
and they never mention whether or not the veneer is real wood, most likely
because it is photo paper vener.
Basically they are just mass
produced crap, made to a price to look similar to the real cigar
boxes.
There are basically two types of wooden box
construction:
Solid wood (stash boxes and other higher quality
humidors) and the lower cost, man-made alternative
Fibre wood or
MDF wood
Most cigar boxes sold under $100 are MDF construction and
covered with a photopaper veneer (and they look cheap and crappy from 5
feet away). All of Gypsy Nirvana's stash boxes are constructed of solid, A
grade quality wood and some models are also lined inside and out with a
real wood veneer.
Although MDF has a specialized use, it is used
for construction of boxes that are designed for high internal relative
humidity levels, like the new cure/stash cabinet of Gypsy Nirvana - the
"Elite".
